IRON MAIDEN ANNOUNCE 2012 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

Iron Maiden have justannounced that the band will extensively tour North America in 2012 for two months from June through August with special guest Alice Cooper until July 21 and special guests Coheed and Cambria from July 21 until the end of the tour.

Iron Maiden will be closely mirroring their 1988 setlist from the ‘Seventh Son of a Seventh Son Tour.’

Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson states, “We have great fun playing the History of Maiden Tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalog. It’s always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before, and of course we know our longstanding fans will enjoy seeing the original Seventh Son Tour re-visited – with many other surprises!”

He continues, “Our intention is to play about two thirds of the original track list of Maiden England (shown below), including some songs we have not played live in a very,very long time, plus other favorites we just know the fans are going to want to hear! We always try to give our fans a great show musically, but we have always tried to make it as entertaining and memorable an experience as we can visually. And we all feel this show is going to do that splendidly! We can’t wait to get started in Charlotte.”

Tickets go on sale on March 2 or 3, depending on the venue.

Whitney Houston's brother-in-law vehemently denied today that the singer had any intention of committing suicide.

"Oh, no, this is accidental," Billy Watson told ABCNews.com. "She wouldn't have left her daughter like that. She wouldn't have done that to her daughter."

Watson, whose sister is married to Houston's brother, Gary, also said the family is flying back to New Jersey from California today and Tuesday, but there's no word on funeral plans.

Los Angeles assistant chief coroner Ed Winter maintained at a news conference today that officials do not know the 48-year-old singer's cause of death. He confirmed to ABC News' L.A. affiliate KABC that officials found prescription bottles in Houston's hotel room, but said there wasn't anything "alarming" or "out of the ordinary" about them.

They were all "pretty normal" prescriptions, Winter said, adding, "I have more prescriptions than what was found in her [Houston's] room."

TMZ reported earlier today that family sources briefed by coroner officials were told Houston likely died from a combination of the drug Xanax and other prescription medication mixed with alcohol.

Houston's aunt, Mary Jones, found the singer's body in the bathtub after laying out a dress for Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party that Houston was set to attend Saturday night, sources told TMZ. She attempted to perform CPR; half an hour later, at 3:45 p.m., someone from Houston's entourage called hotel security.

Investigators looking into the death of Houston have said that they will be examining the pop icon's behavior in the hours and days before she was found dead in the bathtub. They have already questioned the singer's family, friends, and staff.

Houston's official cause of death will not be determined for six to eight weeks, pending toxicology results.

Meanwhile, Houston's 18-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, has been struggling with her mother's death. She was hospitalized Sunday for "stress and anxiety," a family source told ABCNews.com. She was released Sunday afternoon as her father, Houston's ex-husband Bobby Brown, boarded a plane to L.A.

TMZ reported that on Friday night, Bobbi Kristina fell asleep in another bathtub at the Beverly Hilton. Friends had to contact hotel security so she could be removed from the tub.

Houston, who struggled with drugs and alcohol and entered rehab for the third time last year, reportedly spent Friday night at the bar of the Beverly Hilton hotel with a group of friends. She was at the bar for a long time, drinking and being very loud, according to TMZ.

Houston gave her last performance on Thursday at Grammy nominee Kelly Price's party at Tru, a Hollywood nightclub.

"We laughed and we joked and we cracked up, and we danced and sang," Price said. "She was never more than two feet from me the entire night. I gave her a hug, and while I was talking to her she said 'Give me the mike.'"

"In retrospect it's a much bigger moment than I could have imagined," she added. "It was a big moment just because it was Whitney. The world got a gift in that they got an opportunity to see her perform one last time."

Photos taken later that night show Houston leaving the club looking disheveled and disoriented. She reportedly had blood dripping down her leg and scratches on her body.

"It was a great event and she left sweaty, and I have heard the word 'disheveled,'" Price said. "That's about right. When you stand for three hours and in that time period you are dancing. You would leave a club looking that way.

Price added that Houston "didn't look like she was under the influence of anything. She drank some champagne and toasted Kelly Price's three Grammy nominations Thursday night. That's what Whitney Houston did."

Last week, drummer Charlie Benante and bassist Frank Bello announced that they would bedropping off of Anthrax’s current tour to spend time with Benante’s terminally ill mother. Today, we’re sad to report that Benante’s mother (who was also Bello’s grandmother) this past Saturday, February 4.

Benante revealed the unfortunate news via a very touching letter posted on his website. The letter, which included the picture of Charlie with his mother and daughter seen above, read as follows:

“Okay, I gotta get this out…My Mom left us today. She fought her battle as long as she could. Thank you all for all your thoughts and Prayers. My Mom was all about letting me follow my dream, she always pushed me in that direction. She was the one who would take me to buy my records, she was the one who would sit through a matinee of all 5 Planet of the Apes Movies,sShe was the one who got me to be who I am. She was all about her kids and she spread the love to everyone who met her too. I am going to Celebrate Her life every day and I will Play the NYC Show Wednesday for My Mom. Will Metallica announce more small venue shows in their continuous celebration of their 30 year anniversary?

Interactive Fan Shows? Metallica announced Beyond Magnetic digital EP, the metal gods hinted at an upcoming "special interactive fan event." This would fall more in line with the special Fillmore shows Metallica hosted in San Fransisco last March. The four shows were for Metallica fan club members only, and only those fan club members lucky enough to win a lottery style draw were invited to the shows.

The Fillmore shows were extremely fan interactive including trivia games which pulled attendees on stage, and contests allowing their fan club members a once in a life-time chance to hop on stage and riff with their metal lords.

Perhaps the Fillmore shows were a dry run for upcoming Metallica small venue shows, giving their fans a chance to re-experience Metallica as they could during the band's origin years of Kill'Em All.

The ex-White Stripes man is releasing the track as a seven-inch single next Tuesday (February 7), ahead of the release of his debut solo album 'Blunderbuss' on April 23.

Produced by White at his own Third Man Studio in Nashville, the single comes backed with non-album B-side 'Machine Gun Silhouette' – it's available for pre-order from JackWhiteIII.com and Thirdmanrecords.com.

Speaking about 'Blunderbuss', White commented that it was "an album I couldn't have released until now".

I've put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas.

The unveiling of the material comes almost a year to the day (February 2, 2011) thatThe White Stripes announced announced they had split up. A statement released by the duo – which also featured White's former wife Meg White – claimed that artistic differences, health issues or a "lack of wanting to continue" were not the reasons for the split.

"It [the split] is for a myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way," the statement said.

In the 12 months since the end of the band, White has kept himself busy with collaborations and production work at his Third Man Records label, working withInsane Clown Posse, Tom Jones, US comic Stephen Colbert and rapper Black Milk.

White also played US live dates with The Raconteurs, his band with Brendan Benson and The Greenhornes' Patrick Keeler and Jack Lawrence, last September.

His other band, The Dead Weather – which also features The Kills' Alison Mosshart – released their second album 'Sea Of Cowards' in 2010.

Riot Guitarist Mark Reale Dead at 56

It has been confirmed that Riot founder/guitarist Mark Reale has passed away after a lifelong battle with Crohn's Disease. Reale was 56.

The guitarist had reportedly been in a coma since January 11 after suffering a subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Mark Reale co-founded the New York-based heavy metal band Riot in 1975 and went on to release fourteen studio albums with the band, the latest being Immortal Soul in October of last year. The band was scheduled to be on tour this year in support of Immortal Soul, and while the band attempted to soldier on after Reale fell into a coma, the future of the band now remains uncertain.

A posting on Reale's official website reads: "Our brother Mark Reale went home to be with our Lord this day January 25th 2012 after a long battle and complications from Crohns disease. He is survived by his father Anthony Reale and was precede in death by his mother Frances Reale. Mark was born June 7th 1955 in Brooklyn New York at a time when rock and roll was flourishing with many new sounds. Early in his life, his first interest had been the movies. ever so curiously, he had shown an interest in films. But then, songs he heard on the radio began to change that. He quickly began to love music from the Beatles and Cream. Mark lists George Harrison and Eric Clapton as great influences. When he was 7 years old his grandfather bought him his first basic guitar to practice on and later his father bought him a new guitar and amp, his passion had begun.

In the early to mid 70's his influences included the likes of Edgar Winter, Ronnie Montrose and Rick Derringer. He also loved a range of bands and artists from Al Di Meola to Deep Purple. In 1975 Mark formed his band RIOT, then at a block party Mark's father found vocalist Guy Speranza. Mark's guitar style and his passion for writing songs that told stories that were so deep and moving had made a real connection with those who would become life long fans. The fans felt so connected to Mark because the lyrics in RIOT's songs were extremely close to the stories of their own lives. His song writing style could weave tales of anything from old lore to battle fields and warriors, personal loss and triumph. And heavy metal anthems that will be with us for decades to come.

The brethren of brothers that Mark spent his life long career in music with and whom he leaves behind or joins in heaven are, Guy Speranza, L.A Kouvaris, Kip Leming, Peter Bitelli, Rhett Forrester, Rick Ventura, Jimmy Iommi, Sandy Slavin, Tony Moore, Don Van Stavern, Mike Flyntz, Pete Perez, Bobby Jarzombek, Mike Dimeo, John Macaluso, Bobby Rondinelli, Mike Tirelli, Frank Gilchriest and Damon Di Bari who was always like the '6th. member of the band being Riot's lighting director / production manager / tour manager and Mark's personal assistant. Mark's final days were spent with Damon at his hospital bedside, sharing the fans thoughts, well wishes and prayers. Even though Mark began his career in New York, San Antonio was a special place he loved and not only lived here for a while but had planned on moving back here to make San Antonio his permanent home.

With heart felt thanks to the fans around the world, the United States, Japan, Europe and all points in between. The RIOT army meant everything in the world to Mark., it's what kept him going. The loyalty and love of the fans fueled his passion and desire to continue making music for as long as possible. Please keep the mighty Tor in your hearts and the memory of Mark alive within you.

In a statement via their official Facebook page, Reale's bandmates added: "To friends and fans of Mark Reale and RIOT, we are deeply saddened to confirm that Mark has lost his battle with a lifelong illness. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated by Mark's family, friends, and bandmates at this difficult time."

Mark and Riot had a major impact on the late '70s metal scene, influencing many of the musicians who would eventually bring about the thrash movement. Upon learning of Reale's death, former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman commented: "I just heard that Mark Reale from RIOT passed away. 'Rock City', 'Narita' and 'Fire Down Under' are three of my favorite albums of all time. I wore all three of them out and have loads of great memories attached to all those great songs. Thank you for the music. Friends please take care of yourselves."

Originaly Anthrax vocalist Neil Turbin also issued a statement on Reale's passing, saying of Riot: "My favorite metal band in high school and one of my greatest musical inspirations of all time. 'Fire Down Under' was such a huge influence on me when I was writing songs like 'Metal Thrashing Mad'. My sincere condolences to Mark's family, friends, fans and bandmates. Shine on, warrior."

The band is pleased to announce that Bryon Stroud of Fear Factory and formerly of Strapping Young Lad, has officially joined the group taking over bass duties. Stroud and 3 INCHES OF BLOOD have been working together on a variety of things, and Stroud is beyond pleased shift his involvement to a creative level. "I am super stoked to let everyone know that I have joined my brothers in 3IOB," exclaims Stroud. "We are busy rehearsing for touring of the new record Long Live Heavy Metal . The band asked me to come on board as manager last year. We rehearse in my bike shop, I've toured with them in the past and being involved in many aspects of the new record has been extremely gratifying for me. Jane's Addiction 2012 Tour Starts Next Month in St. Louis

Alt-rock heroes Jane's Addiction have announced a major North American tour, taking off next month. The band are calling the tour "Theatre Of The Escapists", as they’ll be playing many intimate, classic theaters, according to Hennemusic.

The 18-date stretch, in support of last year’s "The Great Escape Artist", startsFebruary 22 in St. Louis and ends on March 24 in Milwaukee.

"We chose to play as many of the great theaters that we could find because we wanted to immerse the audience in a unique experience unlike any they have ever seen at a rock show," frontman Perry Farrellsaid. "Expect an orgy of musical and visual delights. We like orgies, and hope you do, too."

Tickets are on sale now including at stop at Tulsa's newest venue, The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

LAMB OF GOD today announces the confirmed shows for the European leg of the Resolution tour. The tour encompasses all of the major European festivals as well as a number of headline theater and club plays. The tour kicks off with the band’s return visits to India and Israel, which were two highlights on the 2009/2010 Wrath tour. On their first visit to India, the band played to a crowd of 7,000 people and appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone India. GWAR Announces Spring Leg of the "Return of the World Maggot Tour"

After a brief arctic slumber your Lords and Masters GWAR will be returning to the road this Spring on the second leg of their "Return of the World Maggot Tour". The tour kicks off with a special tribute show for fallen band mate and friend Cory Smoot, AKA Flattus Maximus, in Richmond, VA, at The National Theater on Friday March 16^th. All proceeds from the Richmond show will benefit the "Smoot Family Fund" which has been established to help support Cory's widow and their unborn child. Support on this run will come from fellow Richmond metallers Municipal Waste and California's Ghoul. Legacy of Disorder will join the tour on March 20^th in Boston and the tour will run through April 11^th in Fort Collins, CO.

Tickets for fan club members go on sale tomorrow January 25^th and tickets will go on sale to the general public Friday January 27^th and Saturday January 28^th .

Personal slave to Oderus and Slave Pit spokesman Dave Brockie had this to say...

"All the years of doing GWAR could never have prepared us for what we have been through, and I want to thank the metal community and the extended GWAR family for all of your support. Finishing that last tour was the hardest thing we have ever had to do, and we still have about half of the country left to hit. We will continue as a four-piece, with the special tribute to Flattus at the end of the show, in order to give our fans a chance to say goodbye to our fallen Scumdog brother in true GWAR fashion-covered in blood and rocking the fuck out! After this tour is over we can start looking to the future and begin to put this tragedy behind us. But for now we are still in "Hail Flattus" mode!"

DYING FETUS: NEW NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

Fresh off their South American tour, DYING FETUS have announced headlining and co-headlining North American tour dates. The tour sponsored by Metal Sucks and Dead End Threads kicks off February 26^th and runs through March 14^th. The first leg of the tour will see DYING FETUS headlining with support coming from: Job For a Cowboy, Volumes and Last Chance to Reason. The second leg will feature a co-headlining bill with DYING FETUS and The Faceless. Support will come from Goatwhore, Volumes and Last Chance to Reason.

DYING FETUS are currently working on their new album, entitled "Reign Supreme" which is set to be released in mid 2012 through Relapse Records. The album will feature nine tracks and is a "return to roots" with production focused slightly more on slam than in the band's last few works. Thematically, the album is set to be a good old-fashioned piece of social and political commentary in the style of DYING FETUS as we have come to know.
DYING FETUS will also be touring North America this Spring as part of the Metal Alliance Tour with Devildriver, The Faceless, Job For A Cowboy, 3 Inches of Blood, Impending Doom and Wretched.   The tour kicks off March 15^th in Austin, TX as a part of the SXSW Music Festival and runs through April 21st, circling back to Houston, TX.

The band has also been confirmed for next year's prestigious Maryland Deathfest and France's Hellfest.

Eight-year-old Juliet of Brisbane, Australia is the new queen of hardcore music. Daughter of photographer Kristian Childs and dad, Steven Childs, the singer/songwriter with the Australian band Bright Lights.

Juliet's barely minute long clip is close to racking up 7 million views on YouTube proving a cute kid with bad ass metal chops can make the world go, "awww."

"Let's open up this pit!" the eight-year-old screams, stomping on a trampoline with stuffed animals.

The video was shot by Juliet's mom and friend/music producer Rob Sharpe wrote and recorded the music Juliet thrashes to.

According to Juliet's mom, the intrepid tot wrote most of the lyrics herself.
